Our environment is full of chemicals and toxins. About 70% of conventionally grown fruits and vegetables have pesticides present in them in high amount.
Fruits and vegetables are very healthy for the body as they contain important vitamins and minerals. We think that we are consuming the vitamins and minerals but along with that we are also consuming the pesticide residue on them.
Pesticides protect the crop from germs, insects and rodents. The pesticide residue cannot be removed easily with plain water. When you consume a fruit or vegetable this residue goes inside your body and can make you sick.
Pesticides found in vegetables include spinach ,amount of pesticide used cannot even be washed. The best is to grow spinach in your kitchen garden by using manure or compost.
Another green leafy vegetable, kale is full of pesticide. Even kale can be grown at home, in fact all green leaves can be easily grown in your kitchen garden.
Bellpeppers are also loaded with pesticides, it is one of the worst vegetable.
Next is potato and beans both contain pesticide. Potato cannot be grown at home as it is difficult but we can replace potato with sweet potato which is a great vegetable to eat as it has a lot of fiber. Also, sweet potato does not absorb pesticides whereas potato absorbs pesticide fast as its osmotic pressure is high.
Cucumber again has lot of pesticides you can replace with Indian cucumber.
Among the fruits apple contains pesticides if pesticides are not used then production of apple will go down.
Grapes and honeydew melon both have pesticides. Honeydew is a genetically modified fruit.
Berries like blueberries and strawberries both have high amount of pesticide as in conducive environment they wont be able to grow.
Fruit having a thick peel does not mean it doesn’t absorbs pesticide as oranges have pesticide in high amount.
Among the good fruits are banana which doesn’t absorb pesticide but to ripen it helium gas is used, watermelon is also good but again some local vendors use injections to ripen it.
Pineapple is also free of pesticide, it is a good fruit as it contains an enzyme called bromelian.
Kiwi is high in antioxidant and free of pesticides.
Among the vegetable peas are good as they are free of pesticide and a good vegetable as it has purine.
Cabbage are free of pesticide, it may have small insects its best to wash and cook it properly before consuming.
Egg plant is also free of pesticide. Onion has many layers and does not absorbs pesticide.
Sweet corn and baby corn both are free of pesticides.
We are immersed in chemicals from head to toe from shampoo, soap to make up we use. Its better to use natural products as both what we put inside the body and what we put on the body are important.
We should grow our vegetables and fruits on our own using manure or compost. This is called organic production of fruits and vegetables. Organic produce are becoming popular and more available in the local stores.
Among the chemicals, airfreshers are toxin its better to use sandalwood agarbatti which is natural.
Next one is colin it is important to use less its good to dilute it and use that too on mirrors.
Harpic which is a widely used chemical for toilet cleaning has acid so use it less rather than using it everyday. You can also use natural cleaning substances like lemon and vinegar.
Exposure to toxins can affect your health .It is important to eliminate toxins and overcome chronic ilness.
